Our SEO Approach

Step 1: Keyword research (manual using tools like Ahrefs)

  • There are 3 things we look at for each keyword: Traffic, Competitiveness, and Intent (ie. is this customer likely to be a customer
  • We then prioritize based on a combination of these things and create a Google Sheet
  • This is modeled after how Deel’s content team approaches SEO (Deel is the $12bn valuation fastest growing SAAS of all time)

Step 2: Feed prioritized keywords from Gsheet into Make.com flow

  • Make.com is a no code flow automator, a bit like Zapier
  • The flow we use basically feeds a keyword into a Google search and pulls the top results for it
  • These top result articles for the keyword are then fed into ChatGPT which then creates a single comprehensive article from those top results
  • The goal is to write an article that better answers the search intent than all the current top ranking results (ie. over time.. the best content should win and this will never change)

Step 3: The Make.com integration spits out an outline of articles it proposes


  • This is basically the outline that ChatGPT created based on looking at the top search results
  • Here is an example

Step 4: We use our own AI writing tool to turn the outline into a well-written professional article


  • When ChatGPT is used to write articles you can usually tell that it is written by AI and so we’ve found a different tool to be better
  • And note that the goal with the content is for the user to NOT have to return to Google and continue their search.
    • This is the logic of including the top search results into our article
    • When Google sees that consistently users click on a search result and then do not continue their search afterwards.. that this is high quality content that they should give more traffic to

Step 5: We add relevant photos manually


  • We look at photos as being a bit like conversion optimization on checkout or the optimizations you make to a YouTube video to increase watch time
  • By adding photos every 4-6 sentences we encourage the user to keep reading to the end of the article.
  • This is key because ‘time on page’ is a key thing that Google looks at

Step 6 We further 'humanize' the article to give it personality and remove traces of AI


  • People like reading things by other humans and typically don’t like when they detect that something was just AI
  • And Google ranks articles well when people like them and read them
